Our house was robbed the Saturday before we were to leave on our vacation. We had American Protection, Sloman's and ADT come out to our home. We were very concerned that it would not be possible to install the alarm system within the time frame we were working with. Salespeople have a way of promising everything but after the contract is signed you find out they just wanted the sale. Everything the representative explained when he came out was true. The technicians were polite and worked expediently. They cleaned up the areas they worked in and did an excellent job. Before they left they made sure we thoroughly understood how the system worked and felt comfortable with it. We know we made the right choice in selecting American Protection. We have had a few "false" alarms getting used to the system. The response time was always within a few minutes, many times it was within a minute. Afterwards American Protection personally follows up to make sure we are okay. Their monitoring is excellent. The best time to get an alarm is before you are robbed. We have lived in our neighborhood for 15 years, we have felt very safe to the point that we never even thought about being robbed. When we came home and realized our house had been broken into we were shocked. They took all of our jewelry, cash, electronic equipment, etc. but more than that they took away our safe feeling and peace of mind. We have been married for 17 years and each piece of jewelry had a certain sentimental value that is gone. We can never get that back again. Now that the alarm has been installed we never have to worry again about coming home one night and realizing that strangers have gone through and stolen our personal property. When we had left for our affair, some one was watching our departure. They thought they had easy pickings, but as soon as they got the door open the alarm sounded and police were alerted. They took off quickly. Our Christmas presents and other valuables were in full view. Without the system, it would have been a sad holiday for my family. Powell Stevenson, Haddonfield Lumber A Life-Saving Experience On the night of March 25, 1996 at approximately 12:45 am, my husband and I were awakened by our AT&T Fire Alarm warning. Panicking, we both began searching the house for fire and/or smoke. We found nothing. Dispatch called and we had them call for the fire department. My husband discovered that the cement around the pipe leading from the heater to the chimney had broken away. This was causing carbon monoxide to back up into our house. We then realized our nasal passages were full of soot, Dave was slightly nauseous with the dry heaves and we were both wheezing as we were breathing.
